Sorry for the silence these past couple of months but decisions at my age are not easy to make. I have missed Cambodia very much but because of my health was not sure that I could return, especially with the changes that have occurred in the Wat Opot Community. My health has improved and I can see clearly again. For this, I am very grateful. How long it will last is of course the question I must ask myself, however, with Fall and Winter seasons approaching here in Michigan, I am forced to decide if I want to continue living a very comfortable carefree life stuck inside of my sister’s house, looking out on the frozen fields that surround me, or, returning to the heat and chaos of living in Phnom Penh.
I made a decision last night and purchased my ticket with Korean Airlines to return to Cambodia on the 25th of this month. I am not sure what I will do once I get there but that has never stopped me in the past… and thinking about those times is what gives me the confidence that things will work out. My philosophy has always been, ‘If you do what is right, Life will take care of you.’ It hasn’t let me down so far and I don’t believe that it has an age or time limit on its ability to do so.
I will let you know more once I get settled into a new apartment and lifestyle. I appreciate very much your support and encouragement and for those I am leaving behind here in the States, I may see you again in the Springtime.
Namaste,
Wayne Dale Matthysse
Hope to see you soon.
